LIFE AND METAPHORIC MESSAGES OF BHAGAT PIPA

Bhagat Pipa was born in 1425 AD at Gagaron village in Rajasthan. His great-grandfather was the king of Malwa. Though enjoying all the pleasures and comforts of royal life, Bhagat Pipa yearned for spiritual knowledge. During his visit to Varanasi, he sought acceptance from Bhagat Ramanand to become his Guru. Bhagat Pipa renounced his royalty and walked the path of spirituality. Bhagat Pipa spent most of his life in Dwarka, a port city in Gujarat. Epitomizing humility, Bhagat Pipa and his wife travelled the country to serve humanity. Bhagat Pipa sang hymns composed by him to motivate people’s morale and to earn money, which would then be distributed amongst the needy.

Bhagat Pipa’s spiritual message is inscribed in his 1 sabad (verse) in Guru Granth
Sahib.
